User Buttons/Functions

Create customizable function buttons with pre-built layouts to enable and disable tools quickly.

ACCESSIBILITY
Access customizable User Buttons via the Settings menu on any SmallHD touchscreen monitor by navigating to Settings > Interface > User Buttons/Functions.

GPI PIN CONFIGURATION (Production monitors only)
Using GPI pin configuration with a SmallHD production monitor enables you to remotely trigger monitor menus and functions, including controlling tally lights for live status indication. This setup streamlines operations and enhances workflow efficiency. NOTE: Monitor firmware v5.5.0 or later is recommended to use GPI Pin configuration.

DIAL ASSIGNMENT (Quantum 32 and Ultra 10 monitors only)
Some SmallHD production monitors feature capacitive touch dials, simplifying control and navigation within PageOS. These tactile knobs illuminate upon touch, identifying their programmed functions. With long-push, short-push, rotary, and capacitive-touch capabilities, you can quickly adjust tools, settings, and functions, offering more customization options than ever.

LAYOUT OPTIONS (Touch Screen monitors only)
You can adjust how the touch buttons are displayed via the Touch Buttons menu. There are ON/OFF toggles to enable the buttons, allowing them to be always present and showing function names. User Buttons have a 3-button and 6-button layout option.

Function Assignment

PHYSICAL/TOUCH BUTTON FUNCTION ASSIGNMENT

  • Physical Buttons: From the Button/Function Assignment submenu, select EDIT, or press and hold the button you are configuring to display the functions menu.
  • Touch Buttons: From the Button Assignment submenu, select EDIT to display the functions menu.

GPI PIN FUNCTION ASSIGNMENT

  • Production monitors only: Select EDIT from the Button/Function Assignment submenu.

The left column of the configuration page allows users to select which User Button to customize. Shortcuts, Tools, and other Configurations can be assigned to a user button/function or GPI pin by selecting the desired option from any category. Enabling a tool with a User Button/Function makes that tool a Global or Shared tool. This means that the tool is active on every page of the monitor.

Notable configurations for User Buttons/Functions include Backlight Toggle, Backlight Custom, Input Select, and 4K TX Switch. Having different inputs on User Buttons/Functions allows the user to quickly switch sources, without having to navigate to the Monitor Settings menu.

DIAL FUNCTION ASSIGNEMENT:

  • Quantum 32 and Smart 10 monitors only: From the Button/Function Assignment submenu, select EDIT, or press and hold the dial you are configuring to display the dial assignment menu, then press the dial again to select the desired function. Functions can be assigned to All Pages (by default), or a Single Page, which will assign the function to a specific tool within a page only.

The assigned tool-specific function icon will turn green to designate its selection for the specific page. The Dial LEDs follow the function color scheme found in the menu to help visually identify assigned tools (Blue indicates ALL PAGES and Green indicates SINGLE PAGE operation).

UI Lock Settings

UI Lock is like a ‘hold’ switch which disables user input while active. This is useful in scenarios where there is a risk of the monitor's controls getting bumped.

UI Lock was added to touchscreen monitors in firmware 3.5.0. Once enabled in the Settings menu, pressing a finger on the screen for 2½ seconds will lock the screen. Pressing the screen again for 2½ seconds will unlock the screen.

Hold Joystick to Lock UI/ Press and Hold screen to Lock

Enables or disables the UI lock at any time via a press-and-hold on the joystick or touchscreen for 5 seconds.

When you touch the screen or hold the joystick down, you will see a progress bar appear at the top of the screen and then it will say locked.  There will be no other indication that the screen is locked.
To unlock, again, hold for 5 seconds and the word Unlocked will appear.
