Bolt Monitor Modules (internal or external) can be configured using the Smart 7 Monitor's built-in interface. Once connected, tap the TERADEK tab.

Module Configuration Menus

NOTE: Updating the SmallHD monitor to the latest firmware version is recommended before updating the Bolt module's firmware. To update the monitor's firmware, click here, then follow the steps below to upgrade the Bolt module.

To perform a firmware update on the Bolt Module:

  1. Download the latest firmware from https://teradek.com/pages/downloads#bolt6.
  2. Click the .zip download file to extract the .bin (firmware file). 
  3. Drag and drop the .bin file onto your SD card:
    • Card must be 16 GB or smaller
    • Formatted as FAT or FAT32 for Windows, MS-DOS (FAT)  for macOS (if partitioned, select the MBR Master Boot Record option under Scheme)
  4. Remove the SD Card from the computer or card reader attached to the computer.
  5. Insert the SD card into your SmallHD monitor.
  6. Turn on your monitor.
  7. Swipe/toggle left, or tap the screen to access the monitor’s Settings Menu.
  8. Click TERADEK, then scroll down and select UPDATE FIRMWARE.
  9. Tap to select the available firmware, then follow the prompts to begin the update process.
  10. Once the firmware is installed and the on-screen prompts tell you to reboot your monitor, hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, and then release.
  11. Press the power button again to begin operating your SmallHD monitor with the new firmware installed.

TX Module Configuration

Paired Receivers - This screen displays all paired receivers (if any), and allows you to pair or unpair additional receivers with the TX module. 

Built-In Transmitter (TX) Status - This screen displays the following information:

  • Temperature
  • Frequency
  • Region
  • Band
  • Distance to RX
  • TX Mode
  • Bandwidth
  • Radio Version

Built-In Transmitter (TX) Configuration

  • Rename transmitter (TX) - Rename the transmitter so it’s easier to identify among other Bolt systems present.
  • Video quality - Select a video quality setting to modify or balance the range and reliability of the signal.
  • Frequency mode - Select either AUTO or FIXED mode.
  • Available frequencies - Specify which frequency to use whenever Fixed Frequency Mode is enabled.
  • Bandwidth - Select either 20MHz or 40MHz.
  • Band - Select either 5GHz or 6GHz.
  • Static video areas - Enable/Disable Static video area optimization
  • Factory Settings - Revert to the factory default settings
  • Update Firmware - Update the Bolt 6 Monitor module firmware.

RX Module Configuration

Linked Transmitter (TX) - This screen displays the name of the paired transmitter along with:

  • Link/Quality Status
  • Current Temperature
  • Frequency
  • Region
  • Input Resolution
  • Distance to TX
  • TX Quality

Paired Transmitters (TX) - This screen displays all paired transmitters (if any), and allows you to pair or unpair transmitters with the monitor module.

Built-In Receiver (RX) Configuration

  • Rename receiver (RX) - Rename the receiver so it’s easier to identify among other Bolt systems.
  • Frequency mode - Select either AUTO or FIXED mode.
  • Bandwidth - Select either 20MHz or 40MHz.
  • Band - Select either 5GHz or 6GHz.
  • Update Firmware - Update the Bolt 6 Monitor module firmware
